Naratriptan belongs to the triptan group of medications and is used in the treatment of migraines with or without aura. Serotonin, a naturally occurring substance in your body, activates receptors in your brain and nervous system. Naratriptan narrows the blood vessels and stops the release of sensory chemicals, which lowers the pain.
Naratriptan is used for short-term treatment of migraine in adults. It helps in relieving migraine and their symptoms. Take a tablet at the beginning of a migraine, or as directed by your doctor. Naratriptan should not be used to stop migraines.
Naratriptan is used in the treatment of migraine only not for any other headache.
Both the frequency and intensity of your headaches are unaffected by Naratriptan.
Don’t take Naratriptan if you have a heart problem, high blood pressure, or circulation problem.
Naratriptan should not be taken 24 hours before or after taking another migraine medication.

Naratriptan comes in 2 doses- 1mg and 2.5mg. The first dose of 1mg or 2.5mg is taken orally. But if symptoms go away and come back, take another dose after 4 hours. Take only 5 mg in a day at most. If your symptoms do not go away, inform your doctor.
At the first sign of migraine, take Naratriptan with a full glass of water.
